"ME TIME", because I'm worth it

When you start talking to people about ME TIME, you often get the look of reproach as if you had pronounced a very dirty word, the word that instantly label you as a very selfish person.

Flash news:

ME TIME is actually vital is you want to achieve your life goals and be successful. Only after taking the time to resource yourself can you will be filled with the right energy to take care of your family and friends. So, ME TIME is in fact a completely altruist act because you cannot pour from an empty cup.

It is not the time you spend on the sofa watching Netflix while eating chocolate or drinking a glass of wine but a time where the activity will give you more energy and wellbeing.

It may be hard to believe, but no matter how busy you are all day, finding just 5 minutes for yourself is really important for you to unwind and feel more relax.  The key is to find something that works for you.

It is time set aside to focus on you as a person not a mum, a wife, a daughter, an employee.  As everybody is unique, the perfect ME TIME also is!!!  So the first thing to do is figuring out what kind of activity relaxes you and makes you fell happy. Here are some pointers:

1. Pamper yourself

Pampering is a great way to tell your body and your mind, let's find some time to take care of our body. Whether you love taking a big bubbly bath, your nails done, going to the hairdresser or a having a massage, the activity must make you fell that you can really take on the world afterwards.

2. Read a book

Pick a book that from the minute you saw the cover, you knew you had to read it. Seating down with a nice cup of tea/coffee or glass a wine can be a time to open our mind and discover something different from our daily life. A great time to escape and come back to your life re-energised by the beautiful words that have filled your head.

3. Go for a walk

Exercising is great but if you are not one for yoga pants and running around the parc, going for a walk has some great benefits too. Enjoy a short or long walk, with no objective other than having a break. Breath in and observe the world 4.

4. Write a few lines or use a colouring book

The simple act of finding the perfect place and selecting the material you need is already therapeutic. Going back on what what you have written or colour shows you how you leave your own personal touch on the world. Meaningful or not what you have done is a part of you.

5. Mindfulness

This practice has the advantage that it can be done anywhere and for any length of time.It is all about leaving in the present moment and feeling life through your body vis all your senses. Here are some things you can do:

- Eat some food very slowly, recognising all the sensations in your mouth

- Breath in and out very slowly while concentrating your mind on a part of your body

- Listen to a piece of music with your eyes closed and try to separate all the different layers ( different instruments, breathing and phrasing of the singer, back up singers...)

- Touch an object with your eyes closed and feel the different parts under your fingers.

Remember that we all deserve ME TIME and the guilt feeling is only in your mind. Allow yourself to be a more relaxed and happy person by giving yourself some breaks of enjoyable activities. Let’s be honest, who wants to hang out with a stressed and overwhelmed person?
